Calculator Use

Graphical, scientificand four-function calculators can be used or are used in certain practices (r) tests. Unless it is specifically clarified that a specific calculator is allowed in a particular test and test, calculators are not permitted to be used.

Test takers aren't permitted to use calculators in a shared manner.

Tests That Do Not Permit Use of a Calculator

In generally, unless explicitly stated that a certain type of calculator is allowed or necessary for a specific test, calculators are not allowed to be used on every test. test.

Tests That Permit the Use of a Calculator

It is possible to use a 4-function or scientific calculator to pass your Middle School: Content Knowledge (5146) test, but you aren't required to do so. You must bring your own calculator to the test center. One is not provided on the day of the exam. The use of a graphing calculator is not allowed for this test.

Types of CalculatorsThat Are Not Permitted

The following are not permitted to be used on Praxis test:

  • Laptops or portable computers that can be carried around
  • Electronic pads for writing
  • Models with pen-input/stylus/touch-screen capability
  • Calculators are available on all phones or watches as well as other electronic devices
  • Models featuring QWERTY as well as other alphabetic keyboards in the hardware or software
  • Printing models
  • Models that create noise or "talk"
  • The models require an electrical outlet
  • Models that have access to the internet OR have Bluetooth (r) or wireless Bluetooth (r) capability.
  • Models that have a camera capable of scanning, players that record digital audio or video

In addition, use of any hardware peripherals is prohibited.

Tests That Provide an On-screen Calculator

Calculators that are supplied by test takers will not be allowed to be used for Praxis assessments that offer on-screen calculators.

On-Screen Scientific Calculator

These practice tests include an on-screen scientific calculator. The tests employ the TX-30XS MultiView(tm) calculator. An instructional video is available so that you may practice using the calculator that is on your screen prior to your test day.
